No doubt King's Fork won the Virginia AAA state basketball championship because they were a team in the true sense of the word. But Jaquon Parker was the one player who seemed to cause the most problems for opposing teams. Parker is so talented that he's been named the Associated Press state basketball player of the year.

As you might expect, both the Division 5 and Division 6 state champions are well represented in the season-ending Group AAA all-state teams.

A special season at Franklin High School has been capped off with some special honors for the Broncos, fresh off capturing its second state football title in school history.

Hampton Roads is known for its share of top flight high school football stars from the public school level and of course from the private school ranks as our area is well represented.

Group AA all-state football team

It was a rough season for the Bay Rivers District in football this season for no school made it to the state semifinals. It was also a rough go as far as selecting players for all-state honors. In the end, only one Bay Rivers player made the cut.
