Friday 8/24 wrap
Just a quick hitter on the first friday of the football season. Only the Beach District at work tonight. If opening night is any indication, Salem is going to be a force again. I was at that game. Kevin Whaley picked up where he left off and got some help from fellow running back Tyrek Boone. Xavier Boyce showed his talents off for Landstown, but the Sun Devils won 38-22.
Seems to me in our Beach preview I mentioned Green Run might have their first winning season in a decade. They got a good start at it by rolling over a respectable Tallwood team.
We also said, Ocean Lakes was going to have problems because their quarterback got hurt in preseason. Not so much... Marcus Davis did just fine running the show in their win over Princess Anne.
Our producer, sometimes photographer, sometimes anchor, Pete Pochkowski is a Cox alum. He was thrilled to be at the game to watch the Falcons pull out a last minute 15-14 win on a two point conversion. Pete proclaimed it their biggest win in years.
And finally, Kellam showed more of the same. They can run you right out of the building. Plus their defense didn't let First Colonial get onto their side of the field. Great night for the Knights, 38-0.
