Friday Wrap 9/21

We had our cameras stretched out from Chesapeake and Norfolk to Suffolk, Smithfield, York County and Williamsburg. You can catch extended hilites of these games in the video section of our home page. (look to your right)
We were thinking that our game of the week had potential to be a thriller. I supposed if you like #2 Oscar Smith you were indeed thrilled by their 47-0 win over #7 ranked Great Bridge.

UNC bound Todd Harrelson got things started with a 93 yard punt return for a score. Later, off a handoff he would also throw for a pass for a score. Lonnie Andrews went wild running with the ball for 177 yards. The Tigers remain undefeated at 4-0.
Last week Dyrell Roberts scored 7 touchdowns for the Smithfield Packers. He and his teammates had it going in the first half of their game with Tabb, leading 28-20 at intermission. But the Tigers run game was unstoppable in the second half. Corey Legister powered his way to 232 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tabb won 42-36.
Also in Chesapeake, Deep Creek and Western Branch usually save their showdown for the last game of the season. With the new school in Chesapeake there was something of a shakeup in the scheduling. By the time we got to this one in in the second half, the Bruins had already put it away. On the video check out the nice rollout pass for a score from Kevin Newsome.
Rivals to be, Nansemond River and Kings Fork met at Kings Fork. The Bulldogs packed a powerful running combination of Stephen Riddick and Javaris Lazenby to beat the Warriors 14-12.
In Norfolk we shot the Booker T. Washington at Lake Taylor game. The Titans showed some strong defense in a 10-7 win.
We made the trip to Williamsburg for cross town rivals Lafayette and Jamestown.
We were hoping for more offensive hilites but couldn't find many. William Hayes scored the only and deciding touchdown for Lafayette. The Rams won 7-6 and remain undefeated.
And finally, we were in York County. Southampton made the trek to Bailey Field to take on York High School. All square at 13 at halftime. Then the Falcons QB Aaron Edwards sparked a couple of second half drives. York won 26-13.

It was not a good night for the Great Bridge Wildcats and their fans. Missing from the lineup were Logan Hestie and Trey Bray. They should regroup and be ready for next Friay night.
Go Cats!
