Friday Wrap 9/28

For the second week in a row we were all excited about a district showdown with two undefeated teams. For the second week in a row we had a blowout instead of a close game. #3 Salem was visiting #7 Ocean Lakes. Kevin Whaley did his usual thing with 137 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Much like last year the Sun Devils look to be the power at the Beach. They're now 6-0 after a 49-9 rout of the Dolphins.
This wrap is about all the games were shot on Friday. Extended hilites of all the games can be seen on the video section of the HSgametime 757 homepage. While there check out the Lake Taylor at Churchland game. Both came in unbeaten in Eastern District play. The Titans showed why they're ranked #6.
Maury had their hands full with Norcom. In our hilites you'll see a touchdown connection for the Commodores. Lorenzo Branche to Kreighton Lambert. Maury forced an interception in the their endzone to stop one last Norcom drive. The Commodores won 17-13.
When viewing the Great Bridge hilites you'll see the usual Wildcat connection. Casey Turner to Logan Heastie worked it a couple of times. Great Bridge beat Hickory 24-0.
On the peninsula, Hampton was hosting Woodside. The Crabbers may be undefeated but not unchallenged this year. They've had a couple of close ones. Not last night. Tron Martinez scored 4 more touchdowns. Matt Mitchell looked great at quarterback. The Crabbers beat Woodside 42-0.
Finally we were in York County for the big matchup of Bay River District unbeatens, Lafayette and Tabb. The Tigers are dreaming of their first title since 1993. Las night won't help. Lafayette dominating defense made the difference as they shut down a potent Tabb running attack. The Rams won 27-6.
