Hoops commitment
We're thinking Nansemond River is going to be pretty good in basketball this year. Today they had their second player commit to a Division 1 school. All state guard Andre Jones is headed to Winthrop.
Jones averaged 20 points per game to go along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists last season. He's headed to a strong program. Winthrop has won 7 of the last 9 Big South titles. Nansemond River head coach Ed Young tells us that Jones is Winthrop's top perimeter recruit and perhaps could be a starter by his sophomore season. Jones is the first out of state, All Stater that Winthrop has ever signed. His high school teammate Nick Wright earlier had committed to Old Dominion.
