Bethel High School was hoping to win their first state championship since the Allen Iverson era in 1993. They weren't able to pull it off. The Bruins lost to T.C. Williams in the championship game 70-57.

For the first time in the school's history, Heritage High School can be called state champions in girls basketball. The Lady Canes won in a rout over Forest Park 50-29.

After 23 years of coaching, Tommy Reamon felt it was time to take a break. He decided to resign as head coach at Gloucester High School. What he left behind was an impressive resume of coaching some famous quarterbacks.

Hampton Roads got into two of the three state finals in high school basketball today in Richmond. Bethel's boys team won, while only one of the two girls teams made it. Heritage got in, but Princess Anne got denied and could lose their coach in the process.

The Bethel Bruins showed why they are Eastern Region champs in Saturday's state quarterfinals against Langley at Churchland High School by using their high flying offense to jump out to a big advantage and never relinquishing the lead in punching their ticket to Tuesday's state semifinals in Richmond.

Heritage and Princess Anne have moved one step closer towards a possible state title in girls basketball after convincing quarterfinal wins on Saturday. The Lady Canes rolled past a stunned W.T. Woodson squad at Churchland while the Lady Cavs rolled to a road win over R.E. Lee-Springfield.

A busy time in the high school basketball playoffs over at Churchland. On the boys side, Bethel came at King's Fork in waves and went on to win its first region title since 1993, while on the girls side, Heritage pulled a surprise and handed Princess Anne its first loss of the season.
