East Region Basketball Finals

A busy time in the high school basketball playoffs over at Churchland. On the boys side, Bethel came at King's Fork in waves and went on to win its first region title since 1993, while on the girls side, Heritage pulled a surprise and handed Princess Anne its first loss of the season.

If you're a fan of the Bruins, you'd have to go back to Allen Iverson's senior year to find any great success. Bethel more than made up for it winning their 27th game in a row. Guard, Bill Weaver led the Bruins with 18 points as they won 59-41. They'll next host Langley on Saturday at 4pm at Churchland High School. The Bulldogs will have to travel to Northern Virginia to take on T.C. Williams that same day at 6pm. Earlier, the Cavaliers season of perfection came to an abrupt end. The Hurricanes, Bonae Holston had 22 points as Heritage won its first region title in either girls or boys basketball. They'll next host W.T. Woodson on Saturday at 2pm. Princess Anne (27-1), travels to Robert E. Lee-Springfield.
