Reamon lands at Landstown
Tommy Reamon is known for his impressive coaching resume and for sending Aaron Brooks along with Michael and Marcus Vick to the NFL. Less than a month after his departure from Gloucester High School, Reamon has landed on the Southside, at Landstown in Virginia Beach.
On Tuesday, Reamon was tapped as Landstown's new head football coach. The 56 year old Reamon started his coaching journey at Portsmouth's Manor High followed by a stay at Ferguson High in Newport News, where he coached Aaron Brooks, who would go on to future success at Virginia and the NFL. Later on, Reamon landed at nearby Warwick High, where he coached the Vick brothers and made one final Peninsula stopover at Gloucester. Reamon complied a record of 75-96, including 7-23 in his three seasons roaming the Dukes sidelines. He also coached his son, Tommy, Jr., who signed to play football at Old Dominion.
Now, he is getting a fresh start at the beach at a school familiar with on-field success. Landstown posted 40 wins in 42 games and won a pair of state titles from 2003 to 2005, both losses coming in state championship play. And Reamon will be inheriting a squad loaded with talent on both sides of the ball.
Reamon takes over for Steve Canter, who coached the Eagles the last two campaigns after taking over for Chris Beatty. Canter's record was 13-7 including a disappointing 5-5 season last year. Canter resigned in March to take an assistant coaching position at Norfolk State.
