Group AA boys soccer final
Jamestown owned Grafton during the season, winning three of its three head-to-head matches on the pitch against the Griffins. Make it four for four as the Eagles wrapped up their first state title in seven years in an all-Bay Rivers state title matchup Saturday.
Jamestown jumped out to the early advantage and didn't look back. In the opening half, the Eagles' C.J. Young scored just two minutes in for an early 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Kramer Runager scored on a header into an empty net to increase their advantage to 2-0. Runager added his second goal of the game moments later.
Three goals in the game's first 22 minutes, plenty for Jamestown to post a 3-0 win as they captured their first state crown since 2001. The Eagles have outscored their district rivals in all four meetings this season by a margin of 19 goals to six.
The Eagles, who stunned previously unbeaten and defending state champion Blacksburg in Friday's state semifinals, finish the season with a final record of 21-2.
