Group AAA state baseball update

There will not be any miracle comeback for Indian River's baseball team after Thursday's rescheduled state quarterfinal game against Lake Braddock. After pulling off five straight wins until last week's Eastern Region final, the Braves simply ran out of gas on the road.

The game originally started on Tuesday night but had a pair of rain delays and was suspended until Thursday afternoon at Waters Park in Vienna. The game resumed in the bottom of the fourth with the Braves trailing 6-3. However, Indian River could not muster any offense against Lake Braddock as the Braves could only manage three singles.
Lake Braddock would add four more runs of its own to close out the game in a 10-3 win.
Despite a bitter end to its remarkable season, Indian River finishes a sensational season with a record of 18-9.
Lake Braddock improves to 24-3 and will now face Colonial Forge, a 3-1 winner in its quarterfinal game over Cosby, in Friday's 7pm state semifinal at Westfield High School with the championship game scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
