State Group AAA boys soccer update
Kecoughtan is looking to captialize on its return to the state boys soccer tournament. The Warriors last appeared in the state tournament in 1992 and in the semifinals six years before and are aiming for a successful return to the final this weekend.
But first, they had to get past Richmond-base soccer power Deep Run in the semifinals at Westfield. Kecoughtan got off to a slow start in the opening half as Deep Run scored twice for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Deep Run added four more scores in the second half past a shell-shocked Warriors squad as Kecoughtan's season comes to an end at 15-8.
Deep Run advances to face either Thomas Dale or Robinson in Saturday's 1pm championship game at Westfield High School.
