State semifinal sports schedule

After all the delays and postponements and suspended games, we finally have semifinal matchups set for this weekend's Group AAA tournaments at Westfield High in Fairfax and the Group A/AA tournaments at Radford and Pulaski as several area schools are still alive in their quests for a state title to bring home to Hampton Roads.

Here is the schedule for area teams involved in state semifinal play this weekend::

Group AAA baseball semifinal::
-Bethel (21-5) vs. James River (22-4), 3pm at Westfield
(winner to face Colonial Forge or Lake Braddock in Saturday's 3pm championship game)

Group AAA boys soccer semifinal::
-Kecoughtan (15-7) vs. Deep Run (20-2-1), 8pm at Westfield
(winner to face Robinson or Thomas Dale in Saturday's 3pm championship game)

Group AAA girls soccer semifinal::
-Cox (20-3) vs. Battefield, 2pm at Westfield
(winner to face Robinson or Woodbridge in Saturday's 1pm championship game)

Group AAA softball semifinals::
-Woodside (21-3) vs. Battlefield (24-3), 2pm at Westfield
-Hickory (25-1) vs. Deep Run (21-6), 6pm at Westfield
(championship game Saturday 4pm)


Group AA baseball semifinal::
-Poquoson (19-8) vs. Alleghany (24-1), 1pm at Calfee Park in Pulaski
(winner to face Powhatan or Waynesboro in Saturday's 1pm championship game at Radford University)

Group AA softball semifinal::
-Poquoson (19-7) vs. Tunstall (22-3), 10am at Dedmon Center Field at Radford
(winner to face Broad Run or Salem in Saturday's 1pm championship game)

Group AA boys soccer semifinals::
-Jamestown (19-2) vs. Blacksburg (22-0), 10am at Radford University's Cupp Stadium
-Grafton (16-5-2) vs. Hidden Valley (15-4-3), noon at Radford University's Cupp Stadium
(winners to play in Saturday's 10am championship game)


Group A softball semifinal::
-Mathews (21-4) vs. Glenvar (20-5), 10am at Radford
(winner to face Gretna or James River in Saturday's 10am championship game at Dedmon Center Field at Radford)
