State tennis doubles quarterfinals

The Falcons' Ian Fraser and Cameron Brawley, the top boys doubles team in the Eastern Region, rolled past Mills Godwin's doubles team 6-2, 6-3, in quarterfinal play, while the Cox girls doubles combination of Faith Atiso and Jenny Lee won their quarterfinal match over a team from Mills Godwin 7-6, 1-6, 6-3.
Both Cox doubles teams advance to Friday's state semifinals at 1pm at Jefferson District Park located in Falls Church.
Meanwhile, other area teams in state competition were one and done on Wednesday. In boys action, Western Branch's team of Sam Karr and Bobby Kostinas were ousted by Mills Godwin in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. In girls action, Maury's team of Erin Godbout and Stephanie Oswald lost to Mills Godwin's team 6-0, 6-1.
Singles play will held along with the rest of doubles competition at Jefferson Park this weekend.
