Peninsula District Football Preview
It seems like the Peninsula District is getting a little more crowded this season in football. Winning a title just got more difficult.
Over the past several years it usually went through either Phoebus or Hampton. My how times have changed.
Yes the Phantoms are once again favored to lay claim to the top spot with West Virginia bound quarterback Taj Boyd leading the way.
You have to include the Crabbers in the mix with running back, Tron Martinez, but now the Bethel Bruins could pose a serious threat to the two traditional powers. Leading the way for them is running back Jontel Evans. Bethel won 10 games last season for only 5th time in the program's 40 year history and made the playoffs for the first time since 1996.
Everyone else will pretty much be looking up at these three. Warwick and Heritage both made the post season with a chance of doing it again this year. Meanwhile, Woodside, Kecoughtan, Gloucester, Denbigh and Menchville will just be trying to play catch up.
