Barnes Blogs about Zero Week

It is called "zero week" in high school football. It's always kind of confusing to tell people that your first game... or your first Friday Football Fever show is in zero week. Then #2 is in week 1... and so on. But... zero week is one of the smartest things high school football did in recent years. I talk more about that in my video blog.
And we have some great matchups in zero week this year. Giddings and Wimberley. A top ten match-up of two of the best in Central Texas. One of these teams could play for the state title. And it may not be the winner of this game. How 'bout the Taco Shack Bowl between Anderson and McCallum. They used to be district rivals and it's still a grudge match at House Park every year.
And then we have match-ups against teams from outside the Austin area... from San Antonio, Bryan, and the Waco area. Games like Leander against Converse Judson... Pflugerville against A&M Consolidated... and Alamo Heights against Georgetown.
Lots of great games... in August... something you couldn't say before the start of zero week in high school football.
