Barnes Blogs about the best district, and it's not 14-5A

I've been on record since August about the strength of 14-5A. Talked about it on the Fever and blogged about it here on hsgametime. And boy did I feel smart when six teams went into the final night of the regular season with a chance to go to the playoffs. And boy did I feel even smarter when all four of the playoff teams won in the first round. And golly was I proud when three of those won in round two.
Well, I still feel that way about 14-5A, and I congratulate every team in that district. Especially Pflugerville, because they are the only ones still alive.
But, I have to tip my hat to 26-5A. Remember them? We talked about them the first round of the playoffs when they played Westlake, Bowie, Austin, and San Marcos. And we, the Austin area, had to lower our heads a little when that district from San Antonio won all four games.
But you know what? Nothing to be embarrassed about.
You know why? Because all of those teams are still alive!
Converse Judson, SA Reagan, SA Madison, and Smithson Valley have each won three straight playoff games. And they'd probably win a lot more, except they have to play each other this weekend in the regional finals in Divison I and Division II.
I haven't looked it up yet, or called any of my high school trivia kings, but I can't believe this isn't a record. For one, because it's only been a couple of years of having four teams make the playoffs. Show me another district that can brag like this.
I have no ties to San Antonio. Never lived there. Just an occasional visit to Sea World or Fiesta Texas with the kids. But I will give kudos when they are well deserved.
And 26-5A gets 'em today. Congratulations!
