Greg Bailey | Safety first

Greg Bailey

WCNC Sports Director
Hats off to everyone in the area who got players, fans and supporters moved to safety during Friday night’s storms. It’s one thing to say “that’s just common sense,” it’s another to have a plan and execute it well.

Hats off to all of the administrators who were well prepared for everything that hit fields all across the area.

We have had plenty of fun with the wave of suspensions that hit, but tonight we salute everyone who cleared fields to make sure everyone was safe.

A few other thoughts:

West Charlotte led Butler 13-0 before a delay. I knew the Lions would beat somebody big, but I’m surprised that they shutout Butler into the 3rd quarter.

That game resumes on Monday and we’ll cover it on WCNC. Coach Flowers’ passion for that job is starting to show in his team’s play. I can’t wait to see how this one finishes.

Ray Ray Davis is back for Sun Valley, and that team is far more than a one man show. Tonight the Spartans showed off a potent running game. If that continues, Sun Valley can go deep into the playoffs.
