What a Friday night!
Besides trying to find gas for our station car tonight, I have to admit it was a pretty good night. I watched the Butler Bulldogs run all over Berry Academy (sorry Cardinals), I found out that the new Volcano taco at Taco Bell is not hot, and despite some challenging circumstances leading up to our show tonight we made it on the air and got everything done with out a hitch for the viewers at home!
First, Butler is a team that I have seen in person twice now, and I think this may be the best edition of the Bulldogs yet. I know they lost all everything quarterback Jacob Charest but Christian LeMay has stepped in and has the offense firing on all cylinders. The defense led by Hawatha Bell looks to be better than last year, and let's not forget that last season was the first time the Bulldogs beat the Patriots. Yes Independence is also looking better than last year when they finally lost a couple of games, but with that said I think this year's edition of Butler vs. Independence will be the best match up we have seen between these two neighboring schools ever!
As for the Volcano taco, I'm not sure it really deserves much of a mention other than what I have already said. I will add that it was a good taco, and I love Taco Bell and will continue to eat there as long as my doctor and wife will allow me to.
Finally, as for our show it was a wild ride tonight, but sometimes in television that's when things turn out the best. We were rushing together scripts at the last minute, and Greg and I were running into the studio with less than a minute to go before the show began. It's times that that I need my blood pressure checked, but that's just how the television business is sometimes, and you have to learn to thrive under pressure. Luckly we have a great staff around us and we all pull together to get it done.
Finally I would be remiss if I didn't say something about our game of the week that South Pointe Rock Hill won over Clover. Both coaches were great to us this week allowing us to drop in on practice and both coaches proved they have their players best interest at heart when Jet Turner and Bobby Carroll decided not to let the team's shake hands after the game. In a perfect world teams would always shake hands after a game, but I give these men credit for knowing when emotions were running too hot for good things and sportsman ship to flow.
We'll have more to come in the week ahead! Blog you later!
