Congratulations to everyone at "The" Garinger High School. The losing streak on the field is over.

The Wildcats didn't just squeak past West Meck on Monday night, they hammered the Hawks 31--12.

The celebration looked great with players dousing coaches with Gatorade while sharing hugs and high fives. But this win will last long after the players have left the field and left this high school. The young men who stuck it out and believed when no one else did can look back on this for the rest of their lives.

I hold a special place in my sportscaster's heart for teams that battle back from losing ways. I played on some awful basketball teams growing up so I know what it's like to get laughed at and ridiculed in your own community. No more of that for Garinger. They can hold their heads high and know that tonight they are winners. Congratulations to everyone who stuck with it. From the coaches to the players to the fans who came out to see it. Every bit of this celebration was well earned.
