Ira Cronin | High school football rain, go away... Thank you!

I have been covering high school football for 8 years now in Charlotte, and I have never seen so many rainy Friday nights! Of course I worry about this more now that I am out in the trenches shooting highlights on Friday nights. You see water, and multi-thousand dollar electronic equipment don't mix well, at all.

The last time I was out in the rain was at Charlotte Catholic a few weeks ago. I have my rain suit on, but had forgotten to wear my gortex boots. The Addias tennis shoes I wore were quickly soaked through and even though the rest of me was dry, I was freezing cold. You know the old saying, once your feet are wet and cold, forget it, your miserable.

That wasn't going to happen to me this past Friday night. I geared up with my rain gear from head to toe. Hat, pants, jacket, and boots! So here I am all ready for the rains, and what happened. Hardly a drop fell from the sky at the Ardrey Kell/Providence game I was shooting tonight.

So I think I have this rain thing figured out. From now on when rain is in the forecast for Friday night's, I'm gearing up to the nines and sure enough, hardly a drop will fall.

Happy high school football everyone!

Ira
