15-5A: Though only one week into the district season the big race here is not for first or second, it will be for the last playoff spot. Figure, College Park and Lufkin are sure bets with Conroe, The Woodlands and Oak Ridge fighting for the last two spots. Oak Ridge is the underdog here since they just lost to TWH.
Coach of the year front runner: Roger Holtkamp, Conroe
16-5A: Another five team race, this one is tough to call at this point because these teams can knock each other off. Klein is playing the best football along with Westfield, Klein Oak is real close. Klein Forest and Spring have some fighting to do to make the playoffs
Coach of the Year front runner: David Smith, Klein Oak
17-5A: This picture is starting to settle in, Langham Creek is still in the hunt though they are 0-3, they have lost to top teams. Cy Ridge has almost sealed the deal of a playoff spot. Cy Fair, Cy Falls and Strake Jesuit look like the best bets for the playoffs.

18-5A: Tigers and Elsik look to be in great shape, but the last two spots is going to be tough to figure out, the field is wide open.
Coach of the Year front runner: Lance Carter, Mayde Creek
19-5A: Nimitz and Ike look like good shots but the last two spots is a four team race with Northbrook and Spring Woods really not looking like contenders.
Coach of the Year front runner: Darryl Phipps, Eisenhower
20-5A: with Madison upsetting Westside their playoff chances went through the roof, they look real good. Lamar, Chavez and Westside have the best shots with Bellaire and Westbury having outside shots.
Coach of the Year: Tom Nolen, Lamar
21-5A: everyone is in the hunt with only Atascocita and Sterling looking like they have no realistic shot, Channelview's hopes are shrinking also.
Coach of the Year: Walt Beasley, Humble
22-5A: another five team race with Memorial, North Shore and Deer Park looking like sure shots and South Houston vs. La Porte being the battle for the last spot.
Coach of the Year: John Snelson, Memorial
23-5A: Clements virtually sealed the deal with their big win over Marshall, with Hightower and Marshall looking like strong contenders. Bush and Willowridge are the only two that don't look strong enough to push for a playoff spot.
