North Idaho Prep Football Picks: Week 2

Zero week was very kind to me. Though there were only 6 games to predict, I came out unscathed. This week will be a little more difficult as we head into the "official" start of prep football as most of North Idaho's gridiron squads, as well as our friends down I-90 in the Greater Spokane League kick off their seasons this Friday.
Let the games begin!
Sandpoint at Post Falls - The Bulldogs were tripped by 5A Coeur d' Alene last week and are looking to rebound against another formidable 5A squad in Post Falls. The Trojans return a boat-load of talent and are favored among many IEL football experts to make a run at their first playoff appearance since 2004.
Prediction: The Bulldogs will be a little more battle tested entering the contest, but the Trojans are out to show the rest of the league that they are ready to live up to early season hype. Sandpoint will win games, but not this week. Post Falls 28 Sandpoint 14
Coeur d' Alene at University - The young Vikings came out of the gate in last weekends 17-0 drubbing of Sandpoint. The Titans from U-High are one of the more senior laden squads in the Greater Spokane League and could turn some heads. This will be a game to watch!
Prediction: This dog fight will come down to the last quarter of play. While the Vikings are young and talented, the Titans are a little more seasoned and just as gifted. U-High 27 Cd'A 20
Lake City at Kennewick (WA) - Lake City makes the 3 hour trip to the Tri-Cities to take on Big 9 conference opponent Kennewick. This could be prove to be the T-Wolves toughest non-league contest.
Prediction:The Big 9 conference has been one of the most heralded leagues in Washington prep football for years. With that in mind, Kennewick will show signs of light against Idaho's premier football squad, but it won't be enough to contain LC's wide array of weapons. LC 35 Kennewick 14
Lakeland at Riverside (WA) - The Hawks are out to prove they are a force in the Idaho 4A ranks since moving up from 3A three years ago. Riverside has been the class of Washington's 2A (the equivalent of 3A in Idaho) stronghold GNL, and is looking to get back to work as usual. This could be a classic battle that might come down to the last drive.
Prediction: Lakeland will prove their worth early in this contest with capable running backs Scott Carr and Shawn Heibert anchoring the Hawks' offense. Riverside will make this a knock-down-drag-out battle. Lakeland 31 Riverside 28.
Moscow at Timberlake: Behind the legs of Nick Puckett and Levi Powers, the Timberlake backfield will give their respective opponents all they can handle. Moscow, who is usually in the cellar squad in 4A IEL play, will get a quick dose of Deja Vu from last seasons lobsided defeat to the 5th ranked Tigers.
Prediction: Timberlake, the best track team on the football field, will get back to their winning ways in a hurry over the visiting Bears. Timberlake 34 Moscow 7
