Poly's Marisnick Impresses

Riverside Poly baseball standout Jake Marisnick was selected the No.7 prospect at the Tournament of Stars showcase event held over the weekened in Cary. N.C.

Below is an assessment of Marisnick by Baseball America's Matt Blood:

"Marisnick is a 6-feet-4, 200 pound athlete with a pro-body and is one of the few guys who has hit a home run at the T.O.S. He throws average or better from the outfield and has good instincts as well. Marisnick plays with strength and looks like a professional. His ability to drive the ball for power and to the gaps has impressed those in attendance."

Marisnick batted .495 with five homers and 21 runs batted in during his junior season at Riverside Poly. He also scored 28 runs and stole 16 bases.

Marisnick said he will attend Oregon after he graduates next season, but he also is expected to be an early selection in the 2009 first-year player draft.
