HSGameTime Week 1

(Kyle Brown-HSGameTime)Week 1 is in the books, and I was treated to two Southern Indiana games.

For game one I traveled to North Harrison High School for their game against West Washington.

The sounds of the pads hitting, the smell of the hotdogs on the grill, and the cheering fans in the stands made me thankful it's football season.

The Cougars struck first with a field goal, but it was all West Washington after that, winning 33-9.

I was off to Corydon for their tilt with Perry Central. And it was all Perry. Both the air and ground attacks were working and Perry looks to have another strong team.

Now I will hand it off to my partner in crime Bryan Hash for his take on week one.

I took the HS Gametime Road Trip this week, heading all the way to Madison for their season opener against Charlestown. It appeared to be a mismatch on paper, as Madison finished 0-10 last year, while Charlestown finished 10-1, but Madison hung tough, only trailing 13-0 late in the first half. But, a late Pirates TD opened the floodgates and they ran away with a 45-13 victory.

Keep an eye out on Charlestown running back Cameron Metzger, who had 232 rushing yards and 3 TD's. He's very good and the Pirates give him the ball ALOT. Madison is trying to run a spread passing attack, and while it was a rough start, I doubt they go winless this year.

Thats it from Kyle and I this week. Next week, Kentucky games begin with key games at Manual and PRP. And you can always vote for our Game of the Week on the poll on the homepage.
