LSWA RANKINGS: Sept. 25-30
You've got to feel bad for Shaw right now. Well, if you're a Rummel fan, maybe not. But the Eagles are playing hands down some of the best football in the metro area, if not the best football. The defense is as salty as ever, and the offense isn’t showing signs of letting up.
Yet, that does no good come poll time as long as Shaw stays in Class 4A with Bastrop, the defending state champions, the Eagles are going to find it hard to move up into the No. 1 spot held by the Rams. Then again, head coach Scott Bairnsfather isn't worried about polls and is instead focused on O.P. Walker, the Eagles' next opponent.
Shaw stayed No. 2 in the latest LSWA poll. Curtis, though, fell only to No. 2 after a 24-20 loss to Longview, Texas Saturday. Lutcher, coming off 48-47 overtime loss to East Ascension, fell three spots to No. 4. (more) ...
A week ago, I noted that Ehret, Holy Cross and O.P. Walker were “inching their way” up the others receiving votes category. Instead of continuing on that path, however, all three schools took big, hard losses this past week. So, now they’re not even receiving votes. Tough crowd, this LSWA group.
