WEEKLY PICKS: Sept. 21-22
Ron Held, take a bow. You were the undisputed winner for week three of this Blogs (still unidentified, thank you very much) weekly pick ‘em. Ron went 9-1, improving his season record to 16-4 (he joined during week two of this amazing adventure).
Soccer Freak improved, as well, going 8-2 to up his season total to 14-6. You know, maybe if you weren’t a Salmen “apologist,” you would have gotten that game right and tied Ron.
But the best news this week is that we doubled the people involved. In fact, we’ve done that each week. Only one person picked the first week, two the week after and a robust four people played the contest sweeping Greater New Orleans this past week. (more) ...
Our other contestants for week 3:
*Mr. Held Over (of relation to Ron Held) went 6-4
*Mark went 8-1, forgoing the Game O' the Week pick.
As for me, I did all right. I had another 8-2 week, putting me at 22-8 for the year. I stuck with Ben Franklin maybe a week too long, as the Greenies from Newman were Meanies. Yes, I went there. No one ever said I was über creative.
OK, let’s try to get 8 people playing along this week. Wouldn’t that be fantastic? It certainly would help me realize that people are reading my work.
To play, just leave a comment in the comment section (you have to register for this. I promise you it’s safe) or email me at bhandwerger@wwltv.com .

Game O’ the Week
Hahnville 14, O.P. Walker 13 (@ Behrman)
Honestly, this is as unsettled as I’ve felt making a pick all season. Both teams are tremendous, allowing a combined 13 points to their six opponents. That’s good defense. Even more impressive − they’ve scored a combined 210 points.
Both teams can play offense. Both teams can play defense. And there’s no reason to go against either, but here goes nothing.
O.P. Walker’s schedule has been tougher to this point, but not by much. The Chargers’ previous opponents are 3-6, while Hahnville’s come in at 1-8.
O.P. Walker’s offense has been downright scary this season so far. But so has Hahnville’s.
In the end, it’s just a gut feeling. But it’s not a solid one. This could be potentially one of the top 5 games of the year in the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area.
Go ahead, skewer me. Let me know what you think. Leave a comment. Let me know.

Soccer Freak, vacation is no excuse to miss your weekly picks. I had a down week. You could have cut down on my percentage lead.
