Is a top-rated QB recruit changing his mind on LSU?

Posted by bhandwerger | 11:21 AM

Terrelle Pryor is what you would could call a media hound. The closer we get to national signing day, the more we seem to be hearing his name. What's the latest?

And a Baton Rouge player switches his commitment. No wonder people's heads are spinning this time of year every year.

Also, St. James head coach Rick Gaille was honored recently.

Pryor has been all over the news lately. First he says he wants to look at college A. Then, out of nowhere, college B comes into the picture. Then, hey, out of nowhere, LSU - which we'll call college C - comes out of the recruit's mouth. He was supposed to come visit the Baton Rouge campus. Now he's not going to. Glenn Guilbeau, of Gannett News Service, writes recently that Pryor decided not to come visit LSU.

But at least Pryor hasn't committed anywhere yet, meaning he's still a free agent. Southern Lab's Chris Scott, on the other hand, gave his commitment to Baylor a while back. Now he's decided that's not going to happen. He's still going to a school in Texas, though. Now TCU has his commitment. But I'd hold off on truly believing this until Feb. 6 when signing day finally comes to pass. Then it will be firm.

Sticking with football, St. James' Rick Gaille led the team to a Class 2A runner-up finish this year. Not bad. He certainly had some talent to work with, but he also made some brilliant coaching moves along the way. But, for me, the best thing about Gaille is how easy he is to work with day in, day out from a media perspective. And that's why he was rewarded last week at the LHSAA's annual meeting.

And here's another thing - if you're going to get a student to fix your computer, don't keep racy pictures hidden. Because that's what happened in Atlanta. It wasn't just "some" coach, either. It was former UGA quarterback and current Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley's father. Classify that as a big oops.
