Girls basketball brackets released
It's that time of year again. Basketball tournaments are beginning, with the girls taking the floor for bi-districts Thursday, Feb. 14.
And the New Orleans area is loaded with some good game
In 5A, Dominican hosts Ehret, Chappelle hosts Comeaux, Hahnville hosts Lafitte, Mandeville hosts Airline and Ponchatoula hosts Northshore. Mount Carmel travels to Natchitoches Central, East St. John goes to New Iberia, Thibodaux goes to Scotlandville, Bonnabel heads to St. Thomas More and Higgins goes to Southwood.
In 4A, Ellender is the top seed and hosts Northside, Vandebilt hosts Catholic, Franklinton hosts Abbeville, Edna Karr hosts McDonogh 35 and Cox hosts Opelousas. Easton will travel to Bossier, Cabrini goes to Carroll and Salmen goes to Neville.
In 3A, No. 2 seed Ursulines hosts Port Allen as the only local team to play at home. E.D. White goes to No. 1 seed Iota, Ben Franklin goes to Wossman, McMain travels to Winnfield and Amite will play in Madison.
In 2A, No.3 St. James hosts Jonesboro Hodge, Curtis hosts Riverside and St. Thomas Aquinas hosts Jeanerette. PJP goes to Many as the only local team to travel.
In 1A, Country Day hosts St. Joseph's of Plaquemines while South Plaquemines goes to Vermillion Catholic, Kentwood goes to Plain Dealing and West St. John heads to Oak Grove. St. Martin's also will travel, going to Hamilton Christian.
No local teams (by my count) made it in Class B or C.

We saw you in volleyball , have not in basketball. You are missing some good games.
