Peabody undefeated in 4A, still a long way to go

For only the third time in Peabody history, the boys finished undefeated in the basketball regular season. But there's still a long way to go before the season finishes the same way, and Harvey's Helen Cox should be considered a threat.

Peabody has been No. 1 all season in the LSWA poll. But Helen Cox has yet to lose to an in-state team, though you could say the same for Peabody. It will be interesting to see what happens if they play each other. Regardless, Peabody is staying grounded.

Do coaches focus on game-planning opponents, or are they more concerned with their own teams? The Baton Rouge Advocate takes a look.

Yep, it's baseball season. Rivals.com and Pelicanpreps.com takes an early look at who should be good. Here's a hint: Jesuit is a favorite, and Holy Cross is ranked.

Vandebilt's boys soccer team has a history of playing well. The girls program, though, found success this year on the strength of good defense. And now, for the first time in school history, the Lady Terriers are state champions.

And finally, Louisiana isn't the only state questioning the public vs. private sports topic. It has apparently become a big deal in one of California's sections. The different there, however, is that there are plenty of public and private schools to go around. I just don't think the numbers are enough here for a split.
