Newman's Vetter signs with Dartmouth

Newman lineman Bruno Vetter will go to Dartmouth to play football.

If I understand correctly, Ivy League schools don't give out football scholarships. Regardless, it's pretty special to get a player into an Ivy League school to play sports.

5A Finals Blog: Blue Jays fall 7-5 in 5A finals

Jesuit loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, but couldn't do anything with it. The final two Blue Jays struck out - one swinging, one looking.

Jesuit has now reached the semifinals in 2004-2008, winning the title in 2005 and 2007.

David Hatfield picked up the loss in relief, falling to 3-2 on the year.

Mason Katz was awarded the tournament's offensive MVP award after blasting three home runs in two days

Live from the 5A Semis: Jesuit wins 4-1, moves into finals

Jesuit moved into its second-straight finals with a 4-1 win over Catholic, the No. 3 seed in the Class 5A tournament.

Barbe, the No. 5 seed, was an 8-7 winner over Airline in the first semifinal.

The two teams will play tonight at 7 in the 5A championship game.

Stephen Lukinovich picked up the win, throwing a complete-game five-hitter and striking out five. (Continued...)

Jesuit vs. Acadiana: Jesuit wins 9-7, moves into semis

Jesuit senior Stephen Luckinovich moved from first to the mound in the bottom of the 7th after an Acadiana home run cut the lead to 9-7. The Wreckin' Rams didn't get any closer.

Jesuit moves into the semis against the winner of the Catholic-Dutchtown game. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Denham Springs.
