Curtis top-rated program in Lousiana, area

Playing off of last week's list - which several people misunderstood as a list of the state's historically top program's - SI.com lists John Curtis as the country's No. 21 athletic program .

(Continued...)

Now, I'll man up and say this. On my list last week, there's little doubt that it was a mistake to leave off Destrehan, a team that has been on top lately and won the 5A state championship last year.

Salmen and Slidell deserved consideration, certainly, but to me, they're not quite a "now" program, one that currently - as in today and the past year or two - have been at the top of their game. Obviously there have been some extenuating circumstances. We won't get into that.

That said, if I were putting a list together of top local football programs of the past 2 years in the metro area, it would be this (and as always, you're more than welcome to let me know where I'm wrong).

Top 10 Local programs (past 2 years heading into this season)
1. Curtis
2. Shaw
3. Destrehan
4. St. James
5. Lutcher
6. Rummel
7. South Plaquemines
8. St. Paul's
9. Ehret
10. East St. John

OK. Now it's your turn. Let the debate begin anew. For schools that are in the metro area (and obviously this is a loose term being that I have Lutcher and South Plaquemines on this list), who did I leave off? And I know you're going to say Salmen and Slidell, but neither school has advanced past the first round in the past two years, and that's the criteria.

thanks for atleast recognizing slidell and salmen i understand what you mean about us not making it past the first round but trust me we are going far this year because we have a lot of defensive and offensive weapons that people are tending to forget about so i understand that we must prove ourselves and i can assure you we will

Rummel is a good team to see this year they are a strong young team great things are gunna come out of this team they are in the top 5 atlest
