Jamborees still a go in JP; OP undecided
With all the talk about Gustav, I thought it would be prudent to get some information out there about the jamborees and whether they're still scheduled.
I just talked with Ron Gearing with the Orleans Parish school board's athletic department. The St. Augustine Jamboree that included St. Aug, Edna Karr, O.P. Walker and McMain has been canceled. He also said Friday's RSD Jamboree, including Cohen, Carver, Rabouin and Reed is still on, but there's a decent potential that it could get called off. Stay tuned to find out about that one.
I also spoke with Manny Barocco with the JP district. As of 11:20 a.m. Thursday, all JP jamborees are a go. Should this change, I'll update as soon as I find anything out.
Rummel's jamboree game against Bonnabel and Jesuit's game against Grace King, scheduled for tonight at Yenni, are still on. Brother Martin's jamboree is scheduled for Friday at Yenni, and as I discussed earlier, all JP games are still a go. Holy Cross is still scheduled to go to Mandeville Friday night for a jamboree.
I do know that Curtis and Mandeville are still planning on going to Dallas to play their season openers. Both schools are scheduled to leave by bus no later than Sunday morning.
