Barrow Diary: Good week of practice leads to big win

Ehret senior linebacker Lamin Barrow and HSGametime.com will work together this fall to bring you and inside look at what a player goes through during the season. Barrow, the No. 7 player in the state according to HSGametime.com, will try to help guide the Patriots to the Class 5A state finals a year after advancing to the semifinals. Barrow is being recruited by Kansas State, Ole Miss and other Football Bowl Subdivision schools.

Week 1 was a good week for us.

We had a good week of practice leading up to our first game. The game was moved up a day from Friday to Thursday and my squad was more anxious than ever to touch the field again.

We went up against a tough Independence team that fought hard to the end. But it felt good to come out on top 27-6. (Click for the rest of the entry)

I knew we would have a good night when our receiver Craig Johnson took the first catch of the game 70 yards to the house.

We played our parts on defense also to solidify things, putting pressure on the QB all night. We also playde well on special teams with a couple of blocked punts, one of them in which I scored a touchdown with the help of Malik Melancon who blocked the ball.

I had about 10 tackles and a sack also.

But now that Week 1 is over, it's time to focus on (McDonogh) 35 and show them how we get down.
