Destrehan picks up 1st place vote; Rummel enters LSWA top 10
So, tell me if you understand this: Destrehan goes 15-0 and beats Acadiana in the 2007 Class 5A.
Enter fall 2008 and lo and behold, Acadiana is No. 1 in the 5A poll. What do the Wildcats do? They go out and dismantle their first five opponents, including then-No. 4 Ehret.
The Destrehan defense is just plain good and the offense appears to have picked up where it left off a year ago. I don't get it. Destrehan should be No. 1. Then again, maybe I'm not alone. A poll voter took his or her vote away from Acadiana and gave it to Destrehan this week.
On to other poll bullets:
- Brother Martin continues its push into the poll, moving up one place to No. 9;
- Rummel enters the poll for the first time this season at No. 10;
- South Plaquemines lost a No. 1 vote this week, but is still No. 1 in the 1A poll;
- St. Charles enters the 3A poll after a big win over rival Lutcher.
