Week 7 Pick 'Em: Where art thou pickers?

Week 6 in the season equaled Week 4 in pick 'em and apparently three weeks was enough for some of our pickers.

We somehow lost Tom Planchet, Chad Bower and Soccer Freak this past week. Hopefully we can get them back and hit the home stretch of the regular season.

As for who did pick, we welcomed back James Barreca. However, it was the WWL-TV sports department again finding its way to the top. Professor, however, is nipping at the sports department's heels.

Here are the results from Week 6:
Me: 7-3 (30-10, 75%)
WWL-TV Sports: 7-3 (30-10, 75%)
Professor: 7-3 (22-8, 73%)
Juan Kincaid: 5-5 (25-15, 62%)
James Barreca: 5-4 (10-8, 55%)

Last week's non-players
Soccer Freak: 0-0 (21-9, 70%)
Planchet: 0-0 (20-10, 66%)
Chad Bower: 0-0 (18-12, 60%)

No one was really close to the score a week ago. Most people picked a close game between Destrehan and Hahnville. The Widcats won 33-7.

Here are this week's games. Remember to pick all 10 and make sure you pick the score of the Game of the Week. My break down of the Game of the Week will come on Thursday.

This week's picks (and pick the score):
ESJ at Dutchtown
Fontainebleau at Mandeville
Ponchatoula at Slidell
Jesuit at Chalmette
Shaw at Belle Chasse
Riverdale at Pearl River
Ben Franklin vs. De La Salle at Bertolino
McMain vs. Reed at Pan Am
Crescent City at St. Martin's

Game of the Week (pick the score)
St. James at Newman

This one will go a long way in determining who will challenge Curtis in District 10-2A. St. James is traditionally a tough game for Newman, who doesn't really matchup well with the Wildcats.

But Newman has three skill players any school in this area would love to get its hands on. Quarterback Wes Luquette is strong, throwing 17 touchdowns to two interceptions. Receiver Jeffrey Hampton has seven touchdowns and nearly 350 yards receiving on 16 catches. And Ronnie Vinson has 467 yards and five touchdowns rushing as well as 177 yards and two touchdowns receiving.

Newman is 5-0, but here's the catch: The Greenies have won games against a schedule that is a combined 3-22.

St. James is 3-2, but here's the catch: the two losses have come against Destrehan, which is 5-0, and Higgins, which is 4-1 and better than people thought.

I still think the Wildcats will be a little surprised by Newman this year. And the game is at Lupin Field. Home field will help only so much, though.
St. James 35, Newman 27
