Week One Preview

by Evan Chevrier

Lake Oswego @ Southridge

Southridge High School is the place to be this Friday, as the Skyhawks host Lake Oswego, in what could be one of the more entertaining games of the season.
In zero week, Southridge knocked off McMinnville 24-0. Lake Oswego escaped with a narrow win against West Salem 29-28.
Junior Jack Lomax takes over at quarterback for the Lakers, following in the footsteps of his brother Nick, who is now at Boise State. For Southridge, it'll be junior Kellen Mastrud behind center.
Joe Becker will be on hand Friday, to deliver the game ball, and sample a hot dog or two.

Central Catholic @ Jesuit

Dubbed as the Holy War, two of the area's strongest programs meet every year for bragging rights in Catholic churches all over Portland.
Jesuit is going for a three-peat, and all indications are, they may very well do it. The Crusaders are like Clones in the Star Wars movie. A couple dozen seniors graduate, and there are a couple dozen juniors and sophomores there to replace them. Among the best of the clones, running back Raphiel Lambert. Last Friday, Lambert scored three touchdowns in a blowout win over Mountain View, including a TD run of 68 yards.
The Rams boast one of the area's best quarterbacks in Nick Green. IN zero week, Green threw four touchdown passes, and ran one in himself in a 43-40 shootout over Evergreen.
Expect plenty of offense, but expect Jesuit to come out on top.

Lincoln @ Tigard

Connor Kavanaugh has moved on, a few blocks east to Portland State to be exact. So the Cardinals have a big hole to fill. For the first time in a few years, Lincoln is not the favorite to win the P.I.L. That honor belongs to Grant.
One thing Lincoln has going for it, defensive end Ethan Johnson, who is head off to Notre Dame next season.
Tigard has one of the best running backs in the state in Scott Grady. Last week against Bethel, Grady scored all five of the Tigers touchdowns, and racked up more than 300 yards of offense.
Expect more of the same from Grady, and expect a Tigers win on their home field.
