Week Five Preview
Aloha @ Westview
The worst part about playing in the Metro League, is you never ever get a week off. No, there isn't a Parkrose on your schedule, there's no Roosevelt waiting in the wings. Week after week, the best teams in the state are coming at you with all they got. In fact, five of the top twelve teams in the state are in the Metro League. That's unprecedented, there's no precedent!
So this Friday, when Aloha (4-0) travels up the road to Westview (4-0), someone will have to lose. Warrior running back Ben Shelton is going to do everything he can to make sure its not his team. In his last game against Benson, Shelton scored six touchdowns.
But the Wildcats are the real deal. Westview athletic director Mike Sanderson says they've been looking forward to this team for three years now, ever since the seniors were a talented group of freshmen.
Last year's team was good, but this years squad is even better, and they will give Jesuit a real run for their money.
Expect the Wildcats to take care of business Friday, and remain unbeaten.
Prediction: Westview 35 Aloha 21
Beaverton @ Jesuit
This is one of the best rivalries in Oregon. Its a little one sided, in the Crusaders favor, but the schools are less than two miles apart, and the Beavers always gear up for this game.
Beaverton is a solid team, playing in the state's best league. The Beavers upset Canby earlier this year, and showed everyone they belonged in the top 10. But this game is not at home, and Jesuit is no Canby.
The Crusaders already had their one hiccup of the year, and are talented enough to win out. Raphiel Lambert and company may lose one more time this year, but it won't be this Friday.
Prediction: Jesuit 31 Beaverton 24
Lincoln @ Wilson
When Grant lost to Canby last Friday, they left a small crack in the P.I.L. door, that perhaps the Generals aren't going to sleepwalk their way to a league title. And the two teams that could make a run, Lincoln (2-2) and Wilson (2-2).
The Cardinals are having a tough time filling the shoes of former quarterback Connor Kavanaugh. Head coach Chad Carlson seems to have settled on Jason Hobby for now, and they appear to be headed in the right direction. They've won two in a row, and have a little over three weeks to get ready for the Generals.
Wilson will probably make the playoffs, but doesn't appear to be a real threat for the league title.
Prediction: Lincoln 35 Wilson 17
