Colt on the run

I had another geat night of Friday Night Flights. Ace Sports Photographer Brian Warner and I covered Top Ranked Sherwood and 3rd Ranked Hillsboro at Sherwood. I expected a close game...but the Spartans rolled the Bowman 48-14. Hillsboro's Jr. phenom Colt Lyerla had another great game. Some people say he is the number one High School recruit in the country. Lyerla is 6-5 and 220 and is fast.

However, the Spartans have a number of talented players including QB Dominique Mims, Mikkel Smythe and Robbie White.

A week ago, Hillsboro was part of the most exciting finish I've ever seen at a High School game. Glencoe scored with 25 seconds left and grabbed the lead with the two point conversion 21-20. However, Mims hit Lyerla with a 61 yard Hail Mary on the final play of the game. Spartans win 26-21.

The good thing is there's a whole lot of season left!
