North Kingstown girls XC holding fundraiser race, party and BBQ
Turning this year's alumni race into a fundraiser to help cover expenses for the Skippers' trip to a national-caliber race in Alabama, the North Kingstown girls cross country team invites the public to participate in its second annual Alumni Race and Fiesta Norte Dance Party, to be held Friday, Aug. 25, at Goddard Park (near the first restrooms) in Warwick.
Here are some more details provided by the Skippers:
Course: relatively flat, consisting of grass and dirt trails.
Time: Kids Race starts at 5:30 p.m. - 1/2 mile (approximately). The 5K starts at 6 p.m.
The fun event is open to all runners and walkers. Our foremost goal is to re-connect former high school runners with the high school cross country experience and re- establish the important relationship between the alumnus and the alma mater as well as the public.
At the conclusion of the race there will be a flickerball game and a cookout for all participants.
Donations for the race are $15 for the 5k, and $5 for the kids race which includes a T-shirt for those who pre-register by August 20th. For race registration and dance party admission, the cost will be $20. Pre-registration can be mailed, called in or e-mailed.
The race is held as a fund raiser due to recent budget cuts and will help support the cross country program. If unable to attend, donations to North Kingstown High School Cross Country would be appreciated.

5K
Open Category (19 - 39) - Top 3 male and female
Master (40 and up) - Top male and female
Never Say Die Award
Oldest Runner
Junior (18 and under) - Top 3 male and female
Kids Race
Medals for all finishers
Flickerball
King and Queen of the Flickerball Field
