Today's scheduled game between Exeter/West Greenwich and Chariho has been moved to tomorrow night at 6. The game is at Chariho.
Happy Thanksgiving morning!
Though the weather doesn't seem to be nearly as bad as the forecasters predicted -- as I write this in Cranston, it's not raining and the sky, while cloudy, is actually pretty bright -- there's one early postponement to announce. The Exeter/West Greenwich-at-Chariho game has been postponed to Friday night at 6 p.m.
Three other games -- Woonsocket at Cumberland (moved to 7 p.m. Friday), Pilgrim at Warwick Vets (6 p.m. Friday) and Toll Gate at Hendricken (2 p.m. Friday) -- were postponed yesterday afternoon. That leaves 18 Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts games still on the schedule as of 7:54 a.m.
Stick with us all day as we bring you the latest postponement news, plus scores and details of all the games as they're reported.

The Wheeler School field hockey team will hold its annual alumni game on Nov. 25 - the Saturday after Thanksgiving - at 10:30 a.m. at the Wheeler Farm fieldhouse. A luncheon will follow.
The game, which will be played indoors, will feature this year's Division II runner-up Warriors against past Wheeler players. Any and all former players are welcome to participate, says coach Jean Carlson, adding that last year's game featured alumni representing four decades of teams.
"It's a great, great event,'' she said. "To see kids who played before I even started coaching come back and their parents come to the game . . . and some kids bring their own kids. It's just great."
The team will also announce this year's winner of the Julie Baldwin Sportsmanship Award.

Student-athletes who are considering a career in sports medicine today may be amazed at just how vast the field has become.
While the primary sports medicine team consists of the coach, the athletic trainer and the team physician, says Kai Aboulian, ''sports medicine has become a generic term that encompasses many different areas of sports, related to both performance and injury.

''Among the areas of specialization within sports medicine,'' explains Aboulian, who is both a physical therapist and athletic trainer at Foundry Sports Medicine in Providence, ''Athletic Training, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, The Practice of Medicine Relative to the Athlete, Physical Therapy, Sports Nutrition, Strength & Conditioning Coach and Sports Psychology. Each of these professionals has a significant role in regard to the athlete’s optimal health and safety.
"After the initial management of an injury - by the athletic trainer on the field or in the training room - the athletic trainer should routinely refer the athlete to the team physician for further evaluation and accurate diagnosis,'' Aboulian continues. "Then, the team physician will refer the athlete to the appropriate professionals for further treatment.
Aboulian lists some of the support personnel who are involved with the athlete’s health and safety:
• Nurse
• School Health Services
• Physician
• Dentist
• Podiatrist
• Physician’s Assistant
• Biomechanist
• Strength and Conditioning Coach
• Sports Psychologist
• Physical Therapist
• Exercise Physiologist
• Nutritionist

Congratulations are in order for Keven O'Neil and Peter Dion, recipients of this year's Larry Gallogly Awards.
O'Neil, coach of the state champion North Kingstown girls cross country team, was selected by his peers as the Girls' Coach of the Year.
Dion, who helped resurrect the boys' cross country program at East Greenwich several years ago, was honored as the Boys' Coach of the Year.

The Barrington runner placed 24th in 16:22.
"I usually peak during the states, so I was just hoping to run 16:30 or under,’’ he said. "I met that goal. I felt great today. I passed tons of people going up the gradual hills at about 2 1/4 miles. Then I kind of stayed neutral for a while.’’

They took the top two spots at the Class A meet two weeks ago and then again last Sunday at the State meet.
And yesterday, Jean Christensen and Jeanne Mack established themselves as the top two Rhode Island girls in the region.
Mack, a junior and winner of the individual Class A title with a time of 18:43.88, was the first runner from the Ocean State in the girls race of the 72nd New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships, held at Ponaganset High School, placing fourth overall in 18:42.
Christensen, who swapped places with Mack after finishing behind her at the class meet to win the individual State crown in 18:44.45, placed 11th yesterday in 18:59.
"What they did today was one of the greatest things I have ever seen as a coach,’’ said La Salle coach Kelly Martin. ``They gave 100 percent. They put their hearts into the race and they looked great. I’m so proud of them. I couldn’t be more proud of them.’’
Combined with senior Sydney Lopes’ 27th-place overall finish (19:27) and the performance of junior Meghan Pinksaw (105th in 20:43) and sophomore Morgan Finnegan (156th in 21:20), La Salle finished fourth in the team standings.
"This is the best season that La Salle has ever seen for a girls team,’’ Martin said. "They are the best bunch of girls, and I am so happy that I’m their coach. They make it worthwhile.’’
After winning the Class A race, Mack admits she was disappointed to place second at last Sunday’s state meet, even if it was to her teammate.
That provided extra incentive to do well on the same course yesterday, she said, and she managed to position herself among the leaders from the beginning.
"I definitely didn’t have as good of a day as I wanted to last week, so today I just kind of came into it hoping to do better,’’ said Mack. Erica Jessemen, of Scarborough, Me., ``was out ahead and had a good distance on everybody else, but then the race came back to her. I felt pretty good while I was running. The last mile was kind of tiring. I was just trying to run with the group. I was more concentrating on staying with them than on my pace exactly. Then towards the end, one girl started to pull away and it kind of evened out more and I just tried to finish hard.’’
After falling short of its goal of winning a record six-straight state championships last fall, the North Kingstown girls cross country team was definitely refocused this season.
The Skippers added a seventh title to their string of Class A Championships, won their sixth state crown in seven years, then capped it off with their third runner-up finish in the last six years at yesterday’s New England Championships.
Contributing to the second-place finish behind Hanover (N.H.) High School were: Allie Stasiuk (19th overall in 19:18), Siobhan Breagy (36th in 19:39), Caitlin Crawford (42nd in 19:43), Mary Najarian (61st in 20:00) and Erin Brennan (67th in 20:08).
"The start, both for the boys and the girls, is difficult because everybody’s crunching in too quick, and my fourth, fifth and sixth runners had a tough time getting out there,’’ said North Kingstown coach Keven O’Neil, whose squad came into the weekend ranked sixth in the Northeast. ``So that hurt us a little bit, but that wouldn’t have made up (the difference between first and second place). Hanover (N.H.) ran really well. But the girls ran solid all year long. They’ve been pushing all year long and second place is still pretty incredible.
"And to have two Rhode Island teams in the top five, that was absolutely amazing,’’ he added. ``Rhode Island should be very proud of that, especially the way the top couple of La Salle girls (Jeanne Mack and Jean Christensen) ran. That was great.’’
In preparing for yesterday’s 72nd New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships at Ponaganset High School, North Kingstown boys coach Paul Tetreault says he borrowed a page out of the playbook of legendary high school coach Joe Newton.
The York (Ill.) High School coach, whose teams have won upwards of 26 state titles on a course that includes a 90-degree turn shortly after the start, holds his runners back for 3 seconds, then has them stay to the right, said Tetreault.
He gave his Skippers similar advice to help them navigate the somewhat tricky start on the Covered Bridge Trail, which begins on an open field in front of Ponaganset’s tennis courts, but then funnels down pretty quickly while also making a left-hand turn around a soccer wall.
``Just from watching last week’s race, there’s almost a bog down and some kids are basically running in place,’’ Tetreault said. ``Then somebody goes down and then you get the domino effect. So we talked about perhaps not going out quite as fast and swinging to the outside to the right. You may run a little bit farther, but you’re going to maintain your momentum and your pace and all that. And that’s pretty much what we did.’’
It proved to be an effective strategy, as North Kingstown finished 8th in a field of 30 teams and was the top Rhode Island boys team. Paced by Brandon Burns’ 38th-place finish (16:42), NK also received scoring from Mitch Leveille (16:52), Kyle Moriarty (17:09), Nate Wigton (17:21) and Gary Largess (17:44).
''Our guys were sky high after last week,’’ said Tetreault, whose Skippers won their first state crown in 16 years and only the second in the program’s history. ``So trying to bring them back down to earth was tough. We were initially talking top 10 (for New England’s), but after the state meet, we started readjusting and started thinking maybe we had a shot at top 5. So we kind of fell in the middle there, and that’s a good finish.’’
The top Rhode Island team at last year’s New England Cross Country Championships in Thetford, Vt. _ where it finished second to Amity, Conn. with the help of Tom Webb’s individual victory _ Hendricken fell victim to a pileup just 30 seconds into yesterday's race, held at Ponaganset High School, and went on to place a disappointing14th.
One of the teams lined up to the left on the starting line, the Hawks got caught in a logjam where runners must negotiate a stretch of snow fencing about 200 meters into the race. About 60 runners went down, including four of his boys, said Hendricken coach Jim Doyle.
While he didn’t think the Hawks were necessarily in contention for the New England title, the collision nevertheless cost them precious time, Doyle said.
Hendricken’s first runner, Alex Varone, was the sixth Rhode Islander, 45th overall, in 16:44, while state champion Andrew Palumbo was 75th in 17:03.
"The runners coming from the left were cut off by everybody on the right,’’ he said. "When you lose contact with the field like that, it’s like losing quite a few seconds. It’s such a beautiful course, but I wasn’t a fan of the start from the beginning.’’
Less than a week after completing a rare sweep of both the boys and girls’ state titles, the North Kingstown cross country teams proved they are also among the best in the region, at the 72nd annual New England Interscholastic Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Championships, held yesterday at Ponaganset High School.
Though unable to run as a pack the way it did so successfully en route to its seventh-straight Class A championship and its sixth state crown in seven years, the girls’ squad still came away with an impressive runner-up finish to Hanover (N.H.) High School, which boasted the individual champion in junior Georgia Griffin (18:31).
As she did at the state meet, also held on the 5,000-meter Covered Bridge Trail, Allie Stasiuk led the Skippers, placing 19th in 19:18.
And once again paced by state runner-up Brandon Burns (38th in 16:42), the Skipper boys _ who last Sunday upset defending state champion Hendricken to win their first state crown in 16 years _ secured eighth place for the best finish by a Rhode Island boys’ team.
The La Salle girls, meanwhile, put the finishing touches on the best season in its program’s history, as the Rams placed fourth as a team and produced the top two Rhode Island finishers.
La Salle junior and Class A champion Jeanne Mack took fourth in 18:42, while Rams sophomore and reigning state champ Jean Christensen followed 17 seconds later in 11th place.
Barrington sophomore Sid Griffin was the top Rhode Islander (24th in 16:22) in the boys’ race, which was won by Connecticut state champ Donald Cabral of Glastonbury High School in 15:29.
Next from the Ocean State was Coventry senior Andrew Johnson, who was 33rd in 16:38.
R.I. state champ Andrew Palumbo of Hendricken _ whose squad fell victim to a pileup on a tricky turn near the start of the race and finished 14th _ placed 11th among Rhode Islanders, 75th overall, in 17:03.
Connecticut boys state champion Danbury High School edged Glastonbury for top team honors.

Most coaches wouldn't suggest that spending the summer in the pool is the best way to prepare for a cross country season, but that's what Georgia Griffin did.
Now she has a New Hampshire state title and after today a New England crown to show for it, as the junior from Hanover (N.H.) High School won the girls race (18:31) and helped her school take top team honors, as well, at the 72nd New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships, at Ponaganset High School.
``I wanted to feel pretty comfortable for the first three-quarters (of the race), kind of following the pack, and then just see what happens,'' said Griffin, who was restricted to water training this summer as she recovered from a stress fracture in her right shin.

Journal photo / Carolyn Thornton Eventual winner Donald Cabral (bib #392) in first mile of the race
Donald Cabral wanted to run around 15:15 and make sure he had nothing left by the time he got to the finish line. He missed the first objective by 14 seconds and says he wasn't totally spent by the time he reached the finish, but the defending Connecticut state champ still achieved his ultimate goal of winning the boys race at the 72nd annual New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships, held today on Ponaganset High School's Covered Bridge Trail.
``I was hearing footsteps almost the whole race,'' said the junior, who took the lead for good at the top of Indian Hill, between the first and second mile, and went on to post a winning time of 15:29. "When they got closer to me, I tried to pick it up a little bit more. I was happy with my finish.''
