Griffin top Rhode Island boy at N.E. XC meet
Sid Griffin, the Class B champion and third-place finisher at the state cross country meet, added to an already extremely successful sophomore season by becoming the first Rhode Island boy at the New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships.
The Barrington runner placed 24th in 16:22.
"I usually peak during the states, so I was just hoping to run 16:30 or under,’’ he said. "I met that goal. I felt great today. I passed tons of people going up the gradual hills at about 2 1/4 miles. Then I kind of stayed neutral for a while.’’
