That's a bad headline. He was LAST in the race, and he wasn't even close to the next runner. He was way behind everyone, and it makes it sound as if he ran well. Hey, he was 7th....yeah, out of 7. Very misleading.

RI track and field fans, do not be worried by Andrew Palumbo's performance at the Millrose Mile. Palumbo's time of 4:36.68 in the prestigious mile at Madison Square Garden is not an indication of what the Hendricken Hawks senior is capable of. Andrew Palumbo ran a 4:20 mile at the New Balance games just a few weeks ago just to qualify for Millrose.

What everyone in Rhode Island is waiting for is the State Meet, whereby Palumbo owns the top time in the 1500 this year with a 4:10.2. Perhaps we'll see him dip below the 4:10 mark tomorrow at the Class A championship.

North Kingstown Senior Brandon Burns remains a mystery. Having run a 4:19.77 mile at the Yale invitational 2 weeks ago and following that up with a 4:21 mile at the Boston Indoor Games mile, Burns has posted the state's 3rd best time in the 600 meters with his performance of 1:28.7 to take the Southern Division Championship crown. He is entered in the 600 meters again for tomorrow's Class A championship.

The question remains: When will Palumbo and Burns face off head to head in the 1500 or the 1000 that has been much anticipated for the entire season? While Palumbo is entered in the 1500 and 1000 for tomorrow's meet, is Burns hiding his hand to show two weeks from now at the state championship or will he avoid the showdown?
