New cross country invitational set for this fall

The New Balance Ocean State Cross Country Invitational

When: September 29, 2007

Where: Goddard State Park, Warwick, Rhode Island

Meet Directors:
Bob & Anne Rothenberg, Co-directors of more than 100 major championships including the Brown HS XC and Track Invitationals from 1983 – 2005; East Coast Invitational 1975- 1999
Charlie Breagy, Director of the prestigious CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5k from 1990 – present, serving as the national 5k road championship for men and women; organizer of the Ras NahEireinn International XC Invitational

Schedule of events:
* Friday afternoon, September 28 – Middle School Races for grades 6, 7, and 8

* Saturday morning, September 29 – Trail Run open to the running community, all runners, all ages

* Saturday, September 29 – High School Races, freshmen, jv, varsity, and championship divisions

Features:
* Individual and team awards in all divisions
* Special awards for the schools with the best combined boys and girls varsity teams
* New spectator-friendly course
* Live music
* Coaches’ hospitality tent
* Compact schedule – complete girls events (frosh up to championship) followed by complete boys events (championship down to frosh)

Other info:
* High School Entries will be limited to the first 4,000 athletes.
* Coaches who commit to participate before June 1, 2007 will be guaranteed an entry for their entire squad.
* Sanctions pending for CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VT; other states upon request
* In order to be guaranteed acceptance, please email Help@oceanstatexc.com with the following information: School name, City and State of School, Coach’s name, Approximate number of boys and approximate number of girls you anticipate entering.
