Journal, RIIL seek sportsmanship nominations

Nominations are being accepted through June 20 for high school spring sportsmanship team awards.

The Providence Journal and the Rhode Island Interscholastic League are seeking nominations from spring sports coaches and officials for the Injury Fund’s Dick Reynolds Sportsmanship Awards.

The sportsmanship award, named in honor of the late Providence Journal Sports writer, is awarded seasonally to one boys’ and one girls’ high school sports team that has exhibited sportsmanship-like qualities.

Spring recipients will be announced in The Providence Journal’s All-State Sports Section on Friday, July 6th.

Coaches and officials can request a nomination form by calling The Providence Journal Promotion Department at 401.277.8142.

Comments

I would like to nominate the 2007 Tollgate Boys hockey team for a good sportsmanship award. Anyone who read Bill Reynolds article June 10 will know why.I realize it is not hockey season, but most were not aware of Andy Gauthier's plight outside of the local community last winter.
