Connor Mercurio moved up from 10th to 2nd (16:26) and Pat Erban jumped from 43rd to 3rd (16:30), in helping La Salle capture the Boys Cross Country Class A Championship today at Ponaganset High School.

Shaving more than 43 seconds off of last year's time and clocking the fastest time of the day among all three boys' races, Barrington's Sid Griffin successfully defended his individual title and helped the Eagles defend their team title, as well, in the Class B Championship.

East Greenwich took the top four spots, with Akash Chougule leading the way in 17:20.5, as the Avengers successfully defended their title in the Class C race. Less than 1 second separated the four runners, as Mark Feigen placed second in 17:20.7, Nick Ross took third in 17:21.0 and Mike Pezzullo was fourth in 17:21.2.

Tom Pederzani (17:37) and Cameron Frament (17:46) went 1-2 and teammate Ben Gibbons was fourth in 17:57, in leading Hendricken to the JV State Championship, also held today at Ponaganset.
