A Rhode Island record was broken, and one equaled, in track meets over the weekend. At the Rhody Invitational, held at URI, Classical senior Victoria Flowers bettered the girls’ indoor shot put mark that had stood for 12 years. Flowers put the ball a winning distance of 45 feet, one-half inch (13.73 meters), bettering the mark of 45 feet (13.71), set in 1996 by Emily Carlsten, of Warwick Veterans’ High.

At the Dartmouth Invitational in New Hampshire, Moses Brown junior Jenna Poggi tied the state record for the girls’ indoor pole vault. Poggi got off a winning vault of 11 feet, 6 inches (3.51), equaling that height set in 2001 by Toll Gate’s Nicole Battista.
