Emerald City football and volleyball events coming soon
The WIAA's Emerald City Volleyball Invitational is slated for Friday, Aug. 31, at Eastlake High School. The Emerald City Kickoff Classic follows a day later on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Qwest Field.

The 2007 Kickoff Classic features four teams that competed in the 2006 State Football playoffs: Royal (1A), Franklin Pierce (3A), Lakes (3A) and Gig Harbor (4A).
Also of note are the non traditional matchups:
2006 SCAC East Division runner-up, Royal (1A), vs. Eatonville (2A)
Selah (2A) vs. 2006 SPSL Division runner-up Franklin Pierce (3A)
South Sound competitors, Lakes (3A) vs. Gig Harbor (4A)
2006 SPSL North Division runner-up, Kentridge (4A), vs. Inglemoor (4A)
and a KingCo 3A league match-up, Newport vs. Liberty.
