Cougars and Tigers ready for a cat fight

One team you expected to be there...one team maybe not so much. The Bothell Cougars are back in the State championship game looking to finish the deal, something they fell short of last year in a 21-14 loss to Oak Harbor. Bothell players have admitted that last year they may have been just happy to be there in the title game. This year, anything short of a title would be unacceptable to them. The Cougars look to complete a perfect 14-0 season with a win Saturday night over 10-2 Lewis and Clark from the Greater Spokane League.

Bothell played as tough a schedule as you could possibly see getting here defeating fife ranked teams this season including #2 Ferris last week. Former Bothell HS ball-boy now QB Johnny Hekker gets a shot at a title after a great season with 2000 yards and 20td passes but it's the defense led by Kingco Defensive MVP Cory Burk that stars for the Cougars. The Bothell defense has allowed 7 or fewer points in 8 games this season.

The Cougars will face a tough test in the Tigers who boast 6-2 220 pound RB Alex Shaw who has gained 1500 yards and 20td. The Tigers defense is tough as well allowing only 7 points in their first three playoff wins.

Bothell Head coach Tom Bainter will join me Friday night at 11:00 on Varsity football live on Sportsradio 950 KJR. The show will immediately follow our play by play coverage of the O'dea/Skyline 3a title game.
