Garfields' new coach wows at 24

On Monday, and with no coaching experience, 24-year-old Tavio Hobson interviewed for Garfield's head basketball coach and wowed a eight-person committee that inlcuded the Blazer's Brandon Roy and player/coach Joyce Walker. Guess what? Hobson got the job. They still have to do background checks, but it sounds like a done deal.

A graduate from Seattle Prep in 2002, Hobson was a walk-on at Boston College and most recently worked for an LA sports agency. His father coached O'Dea between 1986 and 1990. Hobson said he's be preparing to coach since his freshman year at college. He told the Seattle Times: "Every single athlete that goes through Garfield's program should have the opportunity to go to college." For more on Hobson's background and the interview, read this article.
