Cleveland's basketball coach quits
57-year-old Calvin Johnson, Cleveland's basketball coach and last season's Metro League Coach of the Year, is, well, quitting -- after he was shocked to find that all coaches were being asked to reapply in order to keep their jobs. According to an article in the Seattle Times, Johnson recieved the news "in a two-line e-mail."
"I still don't have an explanation. This is just cold. It's frustrating to have put in all the time and not be given an explanation."
The Eagles went 15-9 last season, winning two games in the Sea-King District tourney. Johnson guided Cleveland to eight state-tournament appearances, including a second-place finish in 1979. The Times articles says a Cleveland employee left the newspaper a telephone message confirming the school has head coach openings in boys and girls basketball, and girls soccer. A new administration starts at Cleveland, including a new principal, next fall.

i think thats bull. i go to the school as a freshman but have known coach cal for 3 years. i dont think that he should have to reaply. he's done good things for our school and has done the unthinkable for such a "ghetto" school. he has kept our school name in the papers unlike our football and baseball coaches. and if you know who im talkin about you know what im talkin about.
